    
Title: School of Art, Glasgow, Scotland Description: School of Art, Glasgow, Scotland, built 1897-1909 by Scottish art nouveau art architect, designer and watercolorist Charles Rennie Mackintosh (1868-1928), who designed the interior of the school, selecting black-and-white color schemes and demonstrating his preference for high-back chairs (some as high as five feet), for which he became known, a style which undoubtedly influenced German architect Walter Gropius (1883-1969) to develop his Bauhaus School during the Weimar Republic, where, like Mackintosh's work, the absence of ornamentation was emphasized in interior and exterior design and architecture.
