Title: Funeral procession of British Field Marshal Sir Henry Wilson

Description: Photograph in 1922 of crowds gathered in London for the funeral procession of British Field Marshal Sir Henry Wilson (Henry Hughes Wilson, 1864-1922), who was assassinated outside his house in Eaton Square on June 21 by two Irish Republican Army gunmen, one of them a messenger in a British government office; The assassins were tried and executed after their victim's funeral and interment in St. Paul's Cathedral; Sir Henry was former chief of the Imperial General Staff, a Loyalist Irishman during the "Irish troubles" for independence from Britain, and was bitterly opposed to Sinn Fein (Irish for "We ourselves"), the political party in Ireland whose main cause was to seek Ireland's independence from Great Britain; Wilson's murder was believed to have been in reprisal for the execution of an Irish republican in Belfast;
