Description: Eliot Ness (April 19, 1903-May 16, 1957), American law enforcement officer became famous for enforcing Prohibition in Chicago, Illinois, during the Great Depression; leader of the famous team of law enforcement agents known as The Untouchables; their efforts to put gangster Al Capone (Alphonse Capone; AKA: Scarface; January 17, 1899-January 25, 1947) behind bars failed, although the Chicago mobster went to prison in 1932 after being convicted of income tax evasion; After Prohibition ended in 1933, Ness became Cleveland, Ohio's safety director, heading efforts to clean up police corruption and modernize the fire department; Ness authored a book, The Untouchables, that was made into a motion picture of that name (1987 U.S. film) starring Kevin Costner (January 18, 1955 - ) as Ness;
