Description: Italian leader Benito Mussolini (Benito Amilcare Andrea Mussolini; AKA: Duce; July 29, 1883-April 28, 1945); Italian politician and one of the founders of Italian fascism; partner with Adolf Hitler (April 20, 1889-April 30, 1945) in World War II; after the war, Mussolini and his mistress, Clara Petacci (Claretta Petacci; February 18, 1912-April 18, 1945), an upper-class Roman woman; were captured by communist Italian partisans while trying to escape by plane to Spain on April 27, 1945; both were executed the next day; Mussolini and Petacci were later taken to Milan, Italy, where their bodies were shot, kicked, and spat upon; the bodies were hung upside-down on meat hooks from the roof of a gas station and stoned by civilians; Mussolini was profiled in many films and TV shows, but most notably by Joe Devlin in the 1942 film The Devil with Hitler; by Paul Porcasi in the 1942 film Star Spangled Rhythm; by Joe Devlin again in the 1943 film Nazty Nuisance; exceptionally by Rod Steiger in the 1981 film The Lion of the Desert; by Fernando Briamo in the 1984 film Claretta; by Bob Hoskins in the 1985 made-for-TV film Mussolini and I; by George C. Scott in the 1985 TV series Mussolini: The Untold Story; and by Claudio Spadaro in the 1999 film Tea with Mussolini;
