    
Title: Robert John Erler Description: Hollywood, Florida, policeman Robert John Erler, who discovered Mrs. Dorothy Clark and her daughter, 12-year-old Merilyn, both homeless and sleeping on a beach, August 12, 1968; he offered to let them sleep in his nearby trailer and took them there, where he raped and murdered Mrs. Clark and shot Merilyn to death; Erler was known on the Hollywood police force as a man who seemed to possess psychic powers in his ability to find stolen cars and immediately solve baffling crimes, all of which he himself committed in order to advance his law enforcement career; he was convicted of murdering Mrs. Clark and her daughter and sent to prison for life.
