    
Title: Frank Dominguez Description: Frank Dominguez, center foreground, arguing in court as the attorney for Fatty Arbuckle (Roscoe Conkling "Fatty" Arbuckle, 1887-1933), American actor and comedian; Arbuckle was charged with killing Virginia Rappe (1896-1921), American actress and dress designer; Rappe attended a drunken party sponsored by Arbuckle on September 5, 1921, (illegal in that Prohibition era) in his suite at the St. Francis Hotel in San Francisco, and to which he had reportedly lured Rappe, long in his covetous eye, and where he, dressed only in pajamas, took her into a bedroom; Rappe died four days later of peritonitis following the rupture of her bladder, and for which the State of California charged Arbuckle with manslaughter and rape; after three highly publicized trials, one in which he was convicted (with Montgomery's testimony present as she provided most of the damning facts against Arbuckle), the last, in 1922, where he was acquitted (accusations later claimed that the jurors acquitting the movie star were bribed by Arbuckle's bosses); Fatty's career was nevertheless ruined and he died in near poverty; many latter-day Arbuckle supporters claim that he was framed and that Rappe was nothing more than a scheming prostitute (which she was not), but a close examination of the evidence and the three trials clearly indicates culpability on the part of Arbuckle.
