Braddock (James Walter Braddock; 1905-1974) sits in the center of a press room surrounded by sports writers and boxing enthusiasts. Braddock shocked the world by defeating "The Livermore Larruper" Max Baer (Maximillian Adalbert Baer; 1909-1959) on June 13, 1935 in fifteen rounds to gain the title. Also known as the "Pride of the Irish", the "Pride of New Jersey", and "The Bulldog of Bergen", Braddock would retain the title until 1937, and finished his career with a (46-23-4) record with two no contests;
